ABOUT HOWARD

I've spent 37 years inside businesses. Not consulting from the outside, but actually in the room when the hard decisions get made. Building companies, transforming them, and fixing them when they break.

I cut my teeth running a global logistics company through some of its hardest years. By 29, I owned a significant stake in the company. By 33, I had led it through a turnaround and a successful exit. More than anything else, the lessons I learned the hard way during this time shaped how I think about what makes businesses work and what makes them break.

Since then, I've worked with hundreds of business owners across nearly every industry you can name, all over the world. I've sat with founders through explosive growth, quiet collapse, and the kind of crises that no one sees coming until they're in the middle of one.

In 2008, I wrote Your Business Brickyard. The book was about something I believed deeply: that getting the basics right, truly right, matters more than any advanced strategy or shiny new framework.

HOW I WORK

I speak at conferences and private forums. Not to entertain people for an hour, but to create the kind of moments that stay with them long after they leave the room.

I write about the things leaders think about at 3am but don't talk about in daylight. The fears, the doubts, the questions that don't have clean answers.

And I work privately with a small number of business owners each year. Sometimes it's a three-hour workshop with their leadership team to diagnose what's actually broken. Sometimes it's a 90-day intensive where we rebuild the foundations together. The work is deep, it's not for everyone, and I'm selective about who I take on.

The best engagements tend to come from people who've been reading my work or heard me speak and already know this is what they need. But if something here resonates, I'm always happy to have a conversation.
