Howard Mann, The Business Basics Expert
Howard Mann is passionate about the basics of business. He knows first-hand how getting the basics right can make or break a business. He will show you how to build a brick-strong foundation so your business will survive – and thrive – in any economic climate.
Down-to-earth and passionate about his message, Howard is a sought-after speaker for business, executive conferences, universities, special events and small groups. His presentations are unique, educational, and even (dare we say it) fun.
What do we mean by “the basics”?
The basics are the things you have to do – and do perfectly – to ensure your business’s success. Too many businesses get lost trying to play catch up and match their competition instead of unlocking what they do better than anyone else. Getting back to the basics brings confidence and control back to the business, regardless of competitors, trends and fads, or even a business’ speed of growth.
As discussed in his celebrated book, Your Business Brickyard, Howard has defined a dozen must-have basics of running a great business, including:
- Reconnect with your purpose.
- All truth is in the cash account.
- Find your true story.
- Your business grows from relationships, not sales.
- Pay fast. Get paid even faster.
- Escape from the desk trap
- Connect with your customers face-to-face.
About Howard
Howard Mann is the President of Brickyard Partners Inc., a leading strategy, design and communications consultancy based in New York. He is also a founder of Sideshow Digital, an award-winning interactive agency.
Prior to founding Brickyard Partners in 2001, Howard owned a premier international logistics company with six U.S. offices and a network of over 35 agents worldwide. As that business came under severe pressure from the previous economic downturn and industry consolidation, Howard led the company out from extremely difficult times by returning to the basics that can make every business great.
Finding that “secret sauce” did not come easily. Now he is determined to help other business leaders to never have to go through what he endured. Through real-world experience in the “trenches” he has learned that it is not following the latest fad, copying competitors, or adding complexity that makes a business truly great. These lessons, based on practice and not theory, fuel the passion in his talks, workshops, client engagements and one on one work with business leaders.
An hour – or a day – with Howard
In his presentations, Howard uses his engaging story-telling skills and quick wit to enlighten and challenge business leaders, executives and entrepreneurs. Howard helps each audience member reconnect to the business’s unique purpose. Audiences then learn how master the basics, capture consistent innovation, and make business more fun to run.
In addition, Howard works with a select group of entrepreneurs, business owners and executive teams. His highly focused workshops, dubbed "a day in the brickyard," help executive teams take the first step in unlocking the true potential of their organizations.
As motivational as they are practical, his talks and workshops have been described as a one-on-one mentoring session regardless of the size of the crowd. Howard uses his real-world experiences and stories, his passion for extraordinary businesses, and a healthy splash of humor to help organizations and their leaders get back to the basics, reconnect to their true purpose, and walk away with rock solid tools and strategies they can put to work that day.
